All my life, I have enjoyed working with my hands. I was fortunate to have been raised in Bucks County Pennsylvania, an area outside of Philadelphia that is rich in the cultural arts. I pursued my painting and received a degree from The Tyler School of Art at Temple University.
After college, I fell in love with sculpting clay and became a ceramist/tile maker at The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, a historic turn-of-the-century pottery in Doylestown, PA. With the knowledge I gained through this experience, I eventually ventured out on my own and started a ceramics company, Acorn Pottery. I then enjoyed designing and producing a line of ceramic accessories for the home.
After relocating to Richmond, VA I started painting again with local talent, Curney Nuffer. Curney helped me refine my technique, while at the same time develop my own style.
Since our move to Raleigh, NC in 2009, I enjoy painting in my home studio filled with energizing natural light. I also paint in plein air with fellow members of Paint NC and regularly with a group at Nicole's Studio in downtown Raleigh.
Inspired on different days by varying subject matter, I enjoy painting still lifes and landscapes of local origin and also scenes from our many travels. With each new painting I am challenged to make it my own... My intent is not to copy what I see but to express the energy and beauty in even a seemingly insignificant subject.
