Paul Rigby received his BA and MLS degrees from Rutgers University and did post graduate work at Drexel University. After a successful and satisfying career as a public and academic librarian he decided to work in sculpture full time. He has studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Schuylkill Academy of Fine Arts and individually with numerous teachers. Rigby's media preferences are stone, clay and wood. He is a skilled mold maker and does concrete castings and ceramics restoration. His favorite subjects are animal and human forms. Rigby is represented in area galleries and has been in major gallery and museum shows in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has taught sculpture at Camden Community College and conducted workshops for art educators and other groups. 'Work in stone sculpture is a fine form of meditation,' Rigby says. 'As such my work has had an inward focus while attempting to incorporate the styles of past masters as a means to learn both technique and the aesthetics of sculptural art. I tend to work from nature finding inspiration in animal and human forms.'
