Parallel Diversity

EXHIBITION DATES: November 6th – November 30th
ARTIST'S RECEPTION: Friday, November 12, 2010 6:00 – 8:30 P.M.

The Chestnut Hill Gallery, located in the heart of historic Chestnut Hill, is thrilled to present "Parallel Diversity" featuring two regional artists: a post-impressionist landscape artist and a modernist with a fresh palette.

Joseph Skrapits Is an American landscape painter with post-impressionistic tendencies. The Pennsylvania landscape near Skrapits' home in the Lehigh Valley has been and remains his primary source of inspiration. Favorite painting sites include the upper Jordan Valley near Trexler Game Preserve, the farmland of western Lehigh and eastern Berks counties. Skrapits believes that the challenge of painting plein aire (outdoors - in direct contact with his subjects) promotes fresh responses that stimulate creative growth.

Katarzyna Kalyta (Kasia) was born and raised in Poland. She started her art education at a high school of fine arts and went on to receive her master's degree in sculpture under the tutelage of the internationally respected sculptor Antoni Gryt. She has participated in numerous group graphic and painting exhibitions, as well as summer workshops in Italy, Spain, and Greece. Lately Kasia has become interested in the correlations among color, texture and line, a theme that is represented in her most recent works. Both Joseph and Kasia's works are well-collected by our Gallery patrons.
